How Do I Make
Sense of the Bible?

If you’re committed to getting the most understanding from a book, use the first 5 questions before you begin and the next 5 as you read. Starting well and reading well is so much better.

When you come across an interesting or difficult word or concept in the Bible, these are great steps to follow for richer understanding. (Maybe print and make it your bookmark!)

Out of My Bible Time?

Sloooooooow down as you read and use this to soak in what you encounter in scripture. When you’re done, you’ll own it. (Alli’s favorite is diagramming a sentence but try them all!)

How Do I Approach the Old Testament?

Use this timeline with Alli’s study of Haggai or as you read the OT books of Ezra, Nehemiah or Zechariah about Israel’s exile and beyond to when the OT ends.

What Happened After the Resurrection?

Paul planted many of the churches to whom he wrote letters. The timeline shows where he traveled and planted churches and when he wrote letters back to them.

Read from bottom to top for how the letter of James sees the relationship between God, wisdom and the heart, love, and actions of true faith.
